Socially Responsible Mutual Funds

Many clients choose to add additional criteria to the process of selecting appropriate investments.  This can be done in any or all of the following ways.

Elimination of:

• funds that allow investments in industries such as tobacco, alcohol, and gambling
• companies with poor records of corporate governance and business practices, or labor practices
• companies with poor environmental records, and/or use of nuclear power
• companies with international concerns over operations and human rights

These “negative screens”, filters which allow us to avoid companies, may be complemented by positive screens through which we can emphasize investment in companies making positive efforts and change in these same categories.  We can provide additional guidance and information if you have an interest in building a portfolio that implements these positive and negative screens.
